A while back someone asked me if I'd post my shopping trips, so now that I have a few photo books done and out of the way (they had a deadline to be done) I will try to update this coupon/deal blog more often. I have found that I'm on the computer far less during the summer time when the weather is nice and I have 5-6 kids hanging around too.
So....my shopping this week has consisted of:
1 loaf of bread at Kwik Trip = 1.59 (needed some in a hurry)
and then today's trip to Cub. My Cubs' deals run from Wed-Tues night, so really I was doing "last weeks deals" by PYD's dates.
-Milk= Free (a catalina from the previous week...I never did figure out how I got that deal)
-Texas Toast croutons = .50 after Q's
-Lunchable = Free after Q
-Sour Cream = B1G1 for 2.49 (and they are 16 oz each)
-Tortilla shells = 1.39 (not on sale that I know of, but we needed them for taco's and I'll put cheese on them for a snack for the kids too since there are a. lot. of. them.)
-4 (1 lb) shaved turkey and ham meat. Cub has a deal going on (until 7/10 I think) where if you buy 4 Oscar Mayer meats and spend $10, you get a $3 catalina towards your next purchase. My deal today was buy 4 ($3 each), use 2 $1/1 Q's, spend $10 and get $3 off my next purchase.
I also had a $3 off catalina from my previous shopping trip, so my total came to $10.46 and savings was $13.49 and I have a $3 off my next purchase.
1 lb of the shaved meat will go in the fridge for lunches (change up the PB and J around here) and the other 3 lbs will go into the freezer for the future. Sometimes I cut up the ham and put it in omelettes or eggs, or we make sub sandwiches or just plain sandwiches.
We did stop at Kwik Trip again on the way home
Bananas .38/lb = 1.04
Eggs .99 (bought 2)
Loaf of bread (6 kids go through it fast!) 1.59
Total = 4.61
There ya' go. Maybe this will help me keep track of it better if I'm posting about it too.
So...you wanna know what we're eating too when my shopping trips look like this?
Sunday lunch (roast from 1/3 cow we purchased back in Jan) + potatoes (when Target had a really good deal on them) + fruit + bread
Sunday supper (at gma Jaci's with visitors)
Monday - took left over roast and shredded it up with (free from a previous shopping trip) BBQ sauce in crock pot + fruit + veggie
Tuesday - boys have baseball and we leave at 5 pm, but my babysitting kids don't go home until 5 either, so meals on this day are usually quick and easy...which meant finishing off a few microwaveable meals that I had bought back in March during Target's frozen food deal. (they were a good deal, and I bought them thinking Jon would remember to take them to work occasionally...but normally I don't buy frozen meals very often)
Wednesday - the plan is "make your own pizza's" with leftover ingredients from last weeks pizza's (just need to make the pizza dough and it's super easy and I have the ingredients for that too.) + fruit
Thursday - I'll be gone...so I'm not really sure what is going to be cooked up for jon and the kids yet (probably clean out the fridge night...leftovers from mon eve and wed eve) + fruit and veggie
Friday - breakfast food of some sort...either omelettes (have peppers to use up) or pancakes + fruit
Saturday - not sure of our plans for this day yet and where/what we'll be eating.
Also I've decided that I need to fatten my kids up a little, so am going to try and cook more of Pioneer Woman's recipes with butter and cream. That's my excuse. Of course, I will probably have to start exercising on a regular basis then too. So far the 4 things I've made off her website, I've loved.
Okay...hopefully this is a start, and goodnight!
*******************************************
I'm back to finish this week:
Walgreens:
Household items: zip lock bags B1G1, used Q for $1 off on the one I purchased so 2.29
Food: sardines for Jon .55c and bottled water 2.39
spent $5.73 (inc tax) and saved $5.34
Cub:
Food: Deal on granola bars (this is Jon's exciting breakfast that I "make" for him) 2 for $6 and I had two .75/2 Q's to use on this. This deal had 2 catalina's that printed out, one for $2 off my next purchase and another for $5 OMNP. And then watermelon for 3.88.
spent $11.38 and saved $4.50 (had a previous $3 OMNP catalina to use). And I have $7 to use towards my next purchase.
Target:
AXE deodorant for Jon...not on sale (I tried not to cringe) but had B1G1 Q's burning a hole in my pocket and couldn't let them go to waste since it's his brand.
Bought 4 for 3.44 each.
Spent $7.41 and saved $7.27 (after tax and 5% savings card and .05 for my own bag)
Walmart:
Ice cream cones for $1, found 10 packs of gum on clearance for .50 each (I will not spend more than this since it's what I paid at Sam's club for gum), coconut milk for .92, 3 packs of gum for .28c
total spent $8.37 saved $9.50
Kwik Trip 4.66 for milk and bananas. Didn't save anything, just got milk punches.
Aldi's 12.89, got 9 items. I try to average $1/item or better here. Most of these items were snack stuff for our trip to Emo.
Hy-Vee
This trip I didn't do so well as far as spending vs savings, but considering what I bought, it wasn't too shabby either.
Sugar 4 lb for 1.68 (good deal since it's strawberry jam season), needed flour, bought 4 boxes of cereal for 1.50 each (rock bottom is $1/box) but I was also able to submit for a $5 gas card through Kellogg's deal going on right now. Pop was 4 - 12 packs for 2.22, hot dogs for .48 each, chicken breasts for 1.69 lb.
Total spent was 29.45 and saved was 6.72
All in all for this week (if my calculator worked right) was
Food: 86.35 spent, and saved 21.77
Personal care: 10.20 spent and 11.56 saved
The food is a little above my weekly goal, but I was figuring in that the pop/water/snacks were for the next week while we were at Emo. And I also knew I wasn't going to do any shopping the week of 7/3-7/10.

2 Free Reams of Paper from Staples...Hurry...only good until Saturday 6/11!
Staples has a $3 off $3 purchase Q that is good until 6/11/11. I went this morning to get a ream of Staples brand paper for $5.99, used the $3 off Q, and with my receipt out printed a $3 mail in rebate that is good until 6/11/11 also. There is a limit of 2 per person/household. You could get 2 reams of paper for free (just pay tax) after Q's and mail in rebates.
FYI...my Staples store had a sign by the cash register that said they'd only accept one $3 Q per customer per day due to the high volume. If you can go twice without being noticed in one day, or have a child that could pay for the 2nd one...
